Our GAM3 Awards, a standout event in web3 gaming, is set for a grand return this December 2023. Excitingly, our panel of judges includes familiar figures from 2022 and new voices spanning various corners of web3 gaming. Among the noteworthy additions are experts from web3 gaming venture capital firms, blockchain and ecosystem specialists, infrastructure partners, and content creators. We're also privileged to have esteemed leaders from the gaming realm and tech giants like Amazon and Google joining our distinguished jury lineup.

We are proud to introduce one of our jury members Ronald Aparajit, Business Development Manager at Ancient8. Prior to joining Ancient8, Ronald was the Senior Ops Manager at Carv and Publishing and Partnership lead at Tencent for three and a half years. Ronald was also a MOBA esports player for LoL India and Honor of Kings in China. 

1.What is the most enjoyable part of your role?

“The most enjoyable part of my role as a BD Manager Ancient8 is the opportunity to connect and collaborate with potential partners. It's incredibly rewarding to forge new relationships within the industry and work together to create exciting opportunities. I find it fulfilling to be at the forefront of discussions and negotiations, exploring innovative ways to bring value to our partners and our organization and at the same time chill out with our fantastic community.”

2. How do you see the progress made in web3 gaming since last year?

“Web3 gaming has made significant strides since last year. We've witnessed a growing convergence of blockchain technology, NFTs, SocialFi and DeFi within the gaming ecosystem. The growth in blockchain gaming communities, the development of play-to-earn models, and the maturation of blockchain infrastructure have all contributed to the increasing adoption of web3 gaming. More mainstream brands are getting involved and bringing resources to help push the space forward. At Ancient8 we are also decentralizing by establishing the Ancient8 Foundation. Ancient8 will no longer have a centralized team. The Ancient8 Chain ecosystem will be built collaboratively and decentralized by the Ancient8 Collective, a group of 8 core partners comprised of top web3 gaming thought leaders who are committed to shaping the mainstream adoption of a decentralized world. The Ancient8 Foundation will focus on fostering adoption of the Ancient8 Chain and its decentralized governance.”

3. What is the most valuable addition web3 brings into gaming, from your perspective, if any?

“From my perspective, one of the most valuable additions that web3 brings into gaming is true ownership and transparency. Web3 gaming technologies, powered by blockchain and NFTs, enable players to have verifiable ownership of in-game assets and a clear understanding of the scarcity and provenance of these assets. This not only enhances the gaming experience but also opens up new possibilities for players to trade, sell, or utilize their assets in different games or virtual worlds. Web3 also fosters trust within the gaming community by ensuring that the rules and outcomes are transparent and cannot be tampered with, which is particularly significant in competitive and skill-based gaming environments.”

4. What is your outlook on 2024 and beyond for web3 gaming?

“My outlook for web3 gaming in 2024 and beyond is exceptionally positive. I foresee continued growth and innovation in this space. As blockchain technology becomes more scalable and user-friendly, it will pave the way for even broader adoption of web3 gaming. This expansion will include more mainstream game developers integrating blockchain features into their titles and the emergence of diverse gaming experiences that leverage NFTs and DeFi. Furthermore, I expect to see greater investment in infrastructure and the creation of ecosystems that connect various web3 gaming platforms, enhancing the interoperability of assets and communities. Overall, 2024 and beyond are likely to bring a new era of gaming that is more player-centric, decentralized, and economically empowering. Ancient8 is well-positioned to play a significant role in shaping this exciting future.”
