Axie Infinity

Turn-based strategy, Multiplayer

Free-to-Play | Play & Earn
Available on: Windows / iOS / Android

Inspired by Tamagotchis, Axie Infinity is a world filled with unique Axies that are pitted against each other for supremacy in its universe. Players aim to battle, breed, collect, raise, and build kingdoms for their Axies. The universe has a player-owned economy where players can truly own, buy, sell, and trade resources they earn in the game.

Axie Infinity undoubtedly sparked the play-to-earn revolution, spearheading the movement and gaining incredible traction in the South East Asia region with millions of players. The title currently on its own network, Ronin, with its Origins and Axie Land coming soon to its players.

Axie Infinity made its way to the top of the blockchain gaming space thanks to its complex gameplay accompanied by adorable collectible Axies. With the recent release of Axie Origins, the game has changed quite a bit. Players used to have to buy 3 Axies before being able to even launch the game. Now, everyone is granted 3 free starter characters to test the game and see if they like it before diving deeper.

Every round, players have to select the action cards they want to play for that designated turn and assign it to one of the Axies on the field. The recent Origins update changed the game slightly with sequential turns for a faste and more dynamic experience, while resetting energy and cards each turn to encourage a more aggressive all-out play style.

Difference between Axie Origins and Axie Infinity

As mentioned before, the original version of Axie Infinity promoted a more conservative style of play. This added a layer of extra protection players had during gameplay, sometimes even saving energy for future rounds just in the hopes of having a better action card to play. This isn’t the case with the new Axie Origins update. With Origin only having 3 energies per round which don’t carry over, and the cards in your hand are completely discarded at the end of every turn unless they have the retain mechanic,  the meta shifted towards an aggro approach where offense is more viable.

Another considerable change is setting a standard of 320 HP across all Axies. This means in such a meta, Bug-type Axies buffed up with cards such as Gravel Ant, Leaf Bug, and Snail Shell are incredibly valuable. Add on top of that the 3-energy per round change and you have yourself quicker and more exciting games to watch.

How to Get Started
